Birthday party goodie bags

It’s a birthday party tradition that I remember as a child. Don’t you? The image of a little plastic bag with printed colourful balloons pops to mind. Although its strange I cannot recall what was actually IN those bags -balloons? sweets?-, I remember the excitement of receiving one.

Last year was the first time I prepared goodie bags for Georgie’s little friends. Inside the boys’ bags I placed a rolled up Superman poster tied with a balloon. The girls got a mermaid poster. Both were hand drawn and gorgeous and I’m told they looked amazing on the kids’ bedroom walls.

This year however Georgie recovered from a mighty strong virus only three days before his scheduled party so I cheated and took the easy road, making my way to Jumbo to find goodie bag stuff for over 15 kids. Thankfully I came up with a few things that were useful and appropriate for all ages.

1. One glass cup with handle and straw.

2. One homemade chocolate chip cookie and organic lollipop.

3. One packet of face paint crayons.

4. One lion mask.

I purchased the brown paper bags from Pergamos, a store that has an impressive range of party products albeit in some cases pricey ones. These bags cost 0.50 each. Including the contents these goodie bags cost me 3.50 each. Not bad right?

The YUM Earth lollipops can be found at health food store Be Natural.
