bread for beginners

DSC_0627DSC_0626DSC_0629DSC_0631DSC_0632DSC_0634DSC_0638I have finally conquered my fear of anything that involves yeast and have made my first bread. I can’t tell you how shocked I was to discover it looked good and tasted heavenly. Georgie and I devoured half of it before papa came home and we had more for dinner along with Camembert cheese.

This is the perfect bread to make if you’re short on time or a beginner. Nothing but

half a teaspoon of instant rising yeast

one and a half cups of water

three cups of all purpose flour

and one and a quarter teaspoons of salt.

And the best part, it’s a no knead bread! All you do is mix the dry ingredients with the water, stir a little with a wooden spoon and let it be for 12 to 24 hours. Then coat it with flour, stick it in a ceramic pot with a lid and bake for 30 minutes. I can’t wait to try out more recipes.

The recipe is Jim Lahey’s and was taken from Bleubird, which you should check out for a more analytical approach to making this no knead bread.
