Christening Day

James’ christening day! It was an absolutely gorgeous day filled with love and laughter, But I’m glad it’s over. Big events tend to stress me out especially when I’m the one organising them. But the day unfolded beautifully and was made possible by a big group of people I would like to thank.

Before I had a theme or a date in mind there were a few things I knew for certain and that was that this christening would be a family affair (limited number of people) and money we would spend (let’s face it, it can cost an arm and a leg to baptise a kid) would be put to a good cause. For me that meant supporting small local businesses wherever possible. Before I started researching for the christening I spent alot of time online looking up venues, clothes shops, gifts, etc and I noticed that while there’s plenty to choose from, many people still feel they have no idea what they’re doing. As a local mama blogger I would like to promote the businesses that made this day so special and hopefully make organising such an event a little easier for the next mama or papa.

The gifts for our attendees were something like a little gift basket. My mother-in-law and I came up with the idea after we bought some cake samples from Boutique Patisserie where we also bought all cakes and kerastika and fell in love with the little wooden crates used to transport the sweets. From there we added my favourite jams in all the land, made by none other than JAR in Kato Drys, a cupcake……and these handmade -in -Cyprus little ring dishes purchased from Phaneronenis 70.

For Georgie and James’ little mates I called the lovely local artist Anna Koumoushi. Her pom-pom garlands look absolutely divine hanging in the bedroom. And they all came individually packaged in paper bags with cute little pegs attached.

James’ clothes, etc were bought from City of Dreams in Nicosia and are made locally except maybe for the bowtie and his cute little red converse trainers. ha!Invitations were designed by Red Grass. Highly recommended. Even though they’re based in Paphos meaning I never visited the actual shop everything went smoothly and they were delivered to me in just one week and at an amazingly good price.  Lunch was held at Patio Cocktail Bar in old Nicosia which has to be hands-down one of the most perfect venues in town. The food was divine, honestly, everyone kept saying how amazing it was, as was the service and everything else. I have nothing but respect for the team who made went above and beyond to ensure everything went well.

And last but not least, a massive thank you to Boutique Patisserie for the gorgeous candy table. Every single dreamy detail I asked for became reality and I am so happy everyone got to try the exquisitely yummy cakes that included dark chocolate, lemon and carrot cake, lavender and caramel cheesecakes.

Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate our baby boy and thank you to everyone who helped out. We love you.

Leaving you with a little video. x
