The Parent Hood//02

I’m excited about this week’s The Parent Hood. There’s a good mix and an eye-opening read. Grab that cup of tea.

The only reason kids love the beach is because of SAND. I’m seriously considering doing this.

Always on the lookout for inspiring ideas for Georgie’s bedroom.

I have been keeping up with Jacqui’s blog since she lost her beautiful three year old son, Ryan. She is using the space to write her way through this tragedy. She is a remarkable woman.

our Parisian apartment

Soon after we booked our flights for Paris, I stumbled upon Airbnb. From apartments and houses to boats and treehouses, this website offers a unique living experience to add to your travels. Airbnb is a community marketplace where guests can book spaces from hosts, making it the perfect way to connect with people anywhere in the world. We were so fortunate to find Laetitia’s apartment was available because as you can see from the photos, it is absolutely stunning, dripping with vintage finds, books and tons of character. Not to mention the boulangerie located directly below the apartment filling the air with the sweet scent of warm croissants and other delights, every morning. Though this was our first Airbnb experience, I honestly recommend you give it a go. Oh and a big merci to Laetitia! Bisous!

a blackboard room

From the moment we moved into our new home, I’ve been trying to think of the perfect space for a blackboard wall. Papa and I prepped and painted a board when we moved in, which we use as a monthly calendar – you can see it here– but I wanted more. So I purchased a few cans of paint and ran wild in the guest toilet, of all places. This was the only room we didn’t paint before moving in because thoughts of wallpaper were swirling in my mind. Painting such a high ceiling room was torture at times, definitely harder than I imagined but I am so happy with the result. This is so much more fun than wallpaper. Our house guests certainly think so. We’ve had r-rated graphics and football team slogans scrawled across the walls as well as little poems and cute sketches. It’s weird looking at what a blackboard can bring out in people.

update

This last photo breaks my heart because it reminds me how much my little boy suffered through the horrific flu epidemic that is flooring us here in Cyprus. You can see it on his face. Utter misery. I am however very happy to report that we have slowly but steadily made our way out of the fevers and vomit and preparing for Georgie’s third birthday party this weekend! Carnival celebrations are also in full swing here in Cyprus so our little party is going to be a dress up one!!! I am so excited for my little boy. A joyful celebration is exactly what we need to get the engines running.
