We love spending time with our children, but sometimes it can be a little hard to know what to do with them. We have some ideas that you can both do to keep you entertained and bond with each other. Please take a look at our list below.
Get Outside
There are so many things to do outside with your little ones, whether it is in your own outdoor space or exploring further afield. Find some walking trails near your home and go on a nature hunt. Create a list of plants, insects and animals you can look for together and tick off as you wander around. Prefer to stay in the comfort of your own home, how about cooking up a storm in your own mud kitchen.
Painting
Get the creative thoughts flowing with some painting. Use your hands or make some stamps out of potatoes. However you chose to paint, make sure there are lots of colours.
Baking
There is nothing more humble than teaching your young ones to bake. Make some cookies or cakes to get them excited and looking forward to trying them at the end. Get them involved by getting them to add and mix the ingredients. Letting children help will make them appreciate the outcome more and feel a sense of achievement.
Swimming
It’s never too early or too late to teach your child how to swim. If you don’t feel confident in teaching them yourself, then you can invest in some swim classes to get them started. Get in the pool with them to show them it’s safe and build their confidence up. In no time, your little one will be swimming lengths around you.
Play Traditional Games
Nothing beats a game of hide and seek, Simon says or eye spy. These games used to keep us entertained as children, so why wouldn’t it be the same for our children. If you running out of ideas pulling out the board games is a great alternative. You can find some great family board games online.
Read A Book
Children love looking at pictures in books, so why not read the words to them, so they understand the pictures more. You can even make a fun game out of it by teaching them to read themselves. To really get their imagination going, make up your own stories, take turns in saying one line of a story each until you come up with one bizarre storyline.
Make Some Decorations
With Christmas coming up, now is a good time to get creative, making decorations with your little ones. Whether it’s for the tree, paper chains for the wall or gifts for a family member, we are sure your children will love making them. Plus, you will have a personal memento of your time together at the end.
We hope we have helped you find some activities that both you and your children would love to do together. For tips on how to keep your children entertained through lockdown, check out A NEW FAMILY REALITY – WAYS TO SURVIVE LOCKDOWN WITH KIDS.
