A living nightmare and scary movies

Last week was a nightmare. Both Georgie and I were incredibly sick, wiped out by the nastiest of viruses. His version included high temperatures and unbearable headaches. Mine, two jabs in the butt, an MRI and a truly unimaginable amount of painkillers and other multi-coloured pills.

Yesterday Georgie went back to school where he was welcomed by a round of applause from his mates and teachers (so sweet) and I am back to blogging. Unfortunately, my inspiration has been crushed by the weight of pharmaceuticals so for now all I have for you are four not-so-happy movies I watched while contemplating the bed or the couch. Thy are all, in one way or another, scary, disturbing, real and painful.

An interview with Georgie

When I worked as a feature writer for a newspaper, interviewing people was part of the job and I loved it. I found the task and liberty of asking people anything absolutely exhilarating. Because I’m scared I might forget

I have a diary I plan to give to Georgie when he’s older. I’ve had it since I was pregnant. In the beginning I would write about doctor appointments and various stuff papa and I would do before he came into our lives. Later on I would write about his baby ways and the many sleepless nights. However lately I have not written anything. I felt a pang of anxiety recently when I tried to remember something Georgie said that made me laugh and I couldn’t. Why didn’t I write it down just like I do with everything else? So these little notes are for me and my baby because I’m scared I might forget.

Do you teach your kids about strangers?

My brother’s girlfriend sent me this video last week. I think it’s a topic worth discussing.

Here’s the synopsis: A man goes to a playground with a fluffy white puppy. He approaches random mothers and explains that he is conducting a social experiment to see if kids will willingly walk away with a stranger with a smile on his face and a puppy in his arms or not. Every single mummy is certain that their child will put what they have learnt about talking to strangers into action and run away, returning to their parents’ safe embrace. Of course, they don’t. One by one, the kids take the man’s hand and walk off, leaving their mothers gobsmacked, to say the least.
