1. This month, I decided to give my regular Pilates classes a break and head to the gym for the first time in years. Change is good especially when you’re working muscles. If I’m putting time and energy into something I like to do it well so I’ve been looking up pre-workout smoothies and foods. If you work out, even if that is 30 minutes on the treadmill like me, you should check this link.
Motherhood
This week, on Mummy Beautiful: Stella Georgiou, mother of three.
What is your daytime skincare routine? I wash my face every morning with an antibacterial face wash and then apply a 24 hour moisturising cream.
What is your nighttime skincare routine? Every evening, during my shower I use a homemade scrub on my face. It is made with olive oil and baking soda. Then, I apply a night cream.
I remember those first weeks as a mother. There’s rarely any time to shower and wash your face let alone paint your nails and put on some makeup. I remember waiting for my sister or mum to come by and watch Georgie while I washed my hair – anyone who knows me and my hair, knows how long that can take. In between dirty nappies and colic attacks, I learnt how to master a topknot and embrace my skin with no foundation to aid in hiding every single imperfection. To be honest though, during those first months, I noticed that my skin had never looked so good. I am told that breastfeeding will do that to you.
It’s been a while since I posted some links. The Parent Hood, I have noticed, is popular here on the blog so I’m hoping to keep it strong this year. Here goes:
One of my favourite bloggers, Joanna Goddard, posted an awesome article about how to get kids to eat vegetables. Here, you’ll find some cool and simple tips to ensure no veggies are left on their plate.
Three nights ago, papa was away on a business trip, Georgie was fast asleep and I could have killed for a piece of chocolate. But as most parents will know, once the kids are in bed and you are on your own, you’re trapped. You ain’t going nowhere. Not even for chocolate. So I did what any woman in need of chocolate (or addicted to it) would do: I went through every single shelf, cupboard and hiding place in the kitchen. Lo and behold, a paper bag of premium dark Belgian chocolate. My frantic search could have ceased right there but this was cooking chocolate and my mind began churning out ideas. Whatever I would do with this opportunity, it had to be quick (no brownies, which was what the bag of chocolate was intended for in the first place) and as low-cal as possible (no hot chocolate drinks or marshmallows involved).
