We don’t buy cakes often. If papa, Georgie or I crave a certain type usually I’ll just bake it over the weekend. We all have our own favourites so nothing takes too long to whip up. But then there are times (and as my pregnancy progresses they’re getting more frequent) when baking is the furthest thing from my mind. But eating isn’t.
I am a huge fan of TED talks. A motivating talk on a topic I am passionate about can be a great source of inspiration to me. That’s why I was beyond thrilled when I was asked to become part of the TEDxNicosia team as their official blogger. These independently organised TED events have been taking place in Nicosia since 2011 and have covered some amazing areas and brought forward leading thinkers prepared to make a difference in our society.
This week it was Georgie’s birthday. He is now 5 years old.
I get a bit emotional at his birthdays, when he blows out the candles and I realise how bloody quickly time goes by. I hugged him tight on the morning of his birthday and whispered the words ‘my baby’ to which he replied: ‘No mama. I am now 5 years old so I am not a baby anymore.’ I made it abundantly clear that no matter how old he is he will always be MY baby. On Saturday papa and I dropped Georgie off at my in-laws and made our way to Limassol. We were in town for an event where papa was awarded a massive trophy for winning the Time Attack championship in car racing. So proud of him!
Seeing as this was a one-night vacation and we only had a few hours to ourselves we did what all parents on their own would do. We walked hand-in-hand along the beachfront, stayed up late and slept in. Obviously. We also grabbed some great grub at the Limassol Marina and put our feet up at the Londa Hotel, which was heaven.
