Mummy Beautiful // 01

I remember those first weeks as a mother. There’s rarely any time to shower and wash your face let alone paint your nails and put on some makeup. I remember waiting for my sister or mum to come by and watch Georgie while I washed my hair – anyone who knows me and my hair, knows how long that can take. In between dirty nappies and colic attacks, I learnt how to master a topknot and embrace my skin with no foundation to aid in hiding every single imperfection. To be honest though, during those first months, I noticed that my skin had never looked so good. I am told that breastfeeding will do that to you. READ MORE

Kiddie shop alert: Boyz & Girlz boutique

When it comes to dressing Georgie every new season, I tend to rely on high street stores like Zara and Mango. Both stores stock basics that I like and that Georgie can usually wear for more than just a few months. But I can’t say I am fond of the lack of originality, which means that I am always on the hunt for something different, softer, funkier and cooler. Quality, of course, is my top priority. His clothes need to be able to withstand constant laundry washing and everyday use. All these requirements seem to be fulfilled by a new shop I have sourced out. The Boyz & Girlz Boutique in Engomi, Nicosia is an absolute gem and seeing as I am totally obsessed with my new findings, the lovely owner, Aliki, has allowed me to share some photos.

style to the kids

I like my boy in t-shirts and sneakers. I love him in cut off jeans and I cannot resist a superhero t-shirt. I am pro-tomboy all the way. It’s hard to understand why I ever worried about dressing a boy. It is an absolute uncomplicated joy. Yet sometimes I catch myself walking straight into a heap of tutus and frilly bows and smiling. I am drawn to the cuteness of a little white dress, an embroidered flower and fine fabrics. This does not happen often but when it does it’s usually worth mentioning, so if you have a little girl who you just love dressing up, take yourself down to Marasil. There are stores in Limassol, Paphos and Nicosia. They stock truly gorgeous dresses in lovely fabrics and a number of christening options without the tulle overload. Basic, everyday clothes in breathable materials are available here. Everything is made in Europe, which I appreciate and there’s a cool boys collection too with the coolest croc swim trunks I’m thinking of grabbing.
