For the love of skin

I don’t know if it’s the eery sound of age creeping up on me or the realisation that some things (thighs, I’m talking to you) will never change but I am finally tuning into my skin and all its needs. Those monthly breakouts are yet to be tamed, I won’t lie, but overall my skin is in a much better state than it would have been if I continued to turn a snobbish nose to the sacred valley of beauty and skincare products. Wiping off make up and applying the occasional mask was about all I could muster when it came to caring for my skin. Liked – sneakers

Since I started taking regular Pilates classes and threw a core workout into the mix once a week, those wobbly parts on my body are getting smaller. Fitting into clothes I like and pulling outfits together that make me feel good is a great feeling that brings on all sorts of excitements, especially for someone who put an uncomfortable amount of weight during her pregnancy (still not comfortable with sharing the actual number with the whole world). hair feelings

I was sprinting through some dry hair treatments on Pinterest, when I picked up something along the lines of ALCOHOL and NOT GOOD FOR DRY HAIR. I decided to check my hair products. Not a single one was alcohol-free! Isn’t this something I should know? And yet I seem to forget about it everytime I’m in a shop. Dry and unruly hair can be such a nuisance. With some things like my hair, I really don’t want the hassle. A few weeks ago, around the time I decided to put a mashed avocado all over my head and get the freakiest allergic reaction, I stopped using products and started using ingredients from my kitchen-and ones that I am not allergic too. I am very new to the natural hair treatment world but since doing a little research -plus discovering food I can eat to nurture my hair- I have found that honey and olive oil works absolute bloody wonders for my super dry hair! Honestly! It is amazing, so cheap, so easy anyone can do it! Mix as much honey and olive oil as you think your hair may need. I need loads! make sure your hair is damp and clean and then apply from top to bottom- mainly bottom if you have dry ends like me- and leave for 30 minutes. Tie it in a bun and relax. Then all you do is rinse. I don’t shampoo or condition after because I find my hair agrees with just these two simple ingredients. I am so excited about trying out other natural hair and body treatments. But maybe not avocado ones. READ MORE
