Five changing bags/diaper bags that are also backpacks

Soon after I gave birth to Georgie I remember how phenomenally impossible it was to find a nappy bag or diaper bag or changing bag or whatever you want to call it.

Here was an item I was supposed to carry around with me all the time and yet I wouldn’t go anywhere near most of them even if you paid me. Sorry but Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and other woodland creatures are not the type of bag style I like. So five years ago I made do with a plain shoulder bag. Definitely not very practical but I managed. I breastfed Georgie exclusively so not having to carry bottles and other stuff made the world of difference.

This time around I am determined to find the perfect bag. Ideally it would be a backpack as I also have a five year old so I need my hands to be free. Plus shoulder bags are not a good idea when you have neck pains.

fjallraven1. Fjallraven: These are not changing bags but I’ve had my eye on one since coming across them in Vienna, two years ago. They are available in many different colours, they open all the way and have handles so top marks for practicality despite not being a diaper bag. And this one won’t look too bad on papa or Georgie when I make him carry it. Ha! Available from Amazon.

pacapod22. PacaPod Picos: Designed for the adventurous types and by a mum this one comes with tons of spaces, pockets and other bits and bobs. You also get a changing mat, pram clips, an insulated bottle cover and a separate clothes pouch, which comes in handy when you’re dealing with soiled clothes I guess. Available from John Lewis.

5. Reclaimed Vintage Oversized Military Backpack: This is a totally off the wall option but only in my dreams would it be an actual changing bag. Asos has a great range of backpacks which could all double as bags that I would love to carry and would find incredibly useful with a baby in tow.

Do you have a changing/diaper bag you love? Do tell!
