Welcoming 2017 with no resolutions

Happy New Year guys!

On New Year’s Day I tweeted: ‘Let’s just love each other and be happy, yeah?’ Wouldn’t it be grand if it was that simple?

So much rot has taken place this past year I’m finding it hard to be optimistic. On a personal level, 2016 was a year of change for me. Big and life-changing changes.

My family and I experienced heartbreak and happiness. We celebrated the birth of James and mourned the death of my grandfather. We held each other through break-ups and make-ups, illnesses and pain. These were the type of experiences that jolt you out of your comfort zone and can make you feel scared. Bad scared and good scared. When James was born I felt good scared.

So I’ve made no typical resolutions this year such as I want to exercise more, take the bus more, draw baths more, wear more makeup and go on an adventure every Sunday.

Instead I’ve realised I need to work on me.

Be kind to myself.

Do what feels good and makes me want to dance.

These ten ‘resolutions’ are what I need in my life and I hope to achieve:

1. Let go of comparing.

2. Let go of competing.

3. Let go of judgements.

4. Let go of anger.

5. Let go of regrets.

6. Let go of blame.

7. Let go of worrying.

8. Let go of guilt.

9. Let go of fear.

10. Smile and laugh.
