Since papa’s surgery, understandably things have been a little different around here. Example: papa no longer needs to say goodbye to us every morning before heading to work, something that has completely thrown Georgie. Over the first three days, he would frequently and randomly ask papa when he would be going to work. It took him a while to wrap his head around the fact that he would have papa all to himself ALL DAY. The little dude is in a very happy place. In fact we all are. At times I’ve felt pressure bearing down on my shoulders and a sudden pang of sadness but hey, at least I have cheese, The Elf, a warm home, beautiful babies babbling then sleeping the afternoon away and alas, snow. With Christmas around the corner, I think everything’s gonna be alright.
I knew papa would like the gift I had chosen to get him for Christmas. It was a little something he would definitely enjoy. This year, I began shopping for gifts earlier than usual. When I clicked the BUY icon, I praised myself for planning ahead, not leaving this important part of christmas to the last minute. My final decisions were made with extra thought. When the package arrived however, I was puzzled. I don’t remember buying The Audrey Hepburn collection. Shit. Incorrect item.
One day I took a look around my parents’ house and realised there were certain pieces of furniture that I fancied. Not all are particularly old but sentimental and my kind of style nonetheless. An armchair, a stool and a cabinet have now found a home here, in my new home, and I can’t tell you how happy that makes me because that stool used to belong to my grandmother and that chair came with my parents when they moved here from England.
I was sprinting through some dry hair treatments on Pinterest, when I picked up something along the lines of ALCOHOL and NOT GOOD FOR DRY HAIR. I decided to check my hair products. Not a single one was alcohol-free! Isn’t this something I should know? And yet I seem to forget about it everytime I’m in a shop. Dry and unruly hair can be such a nuisance. With some things like my hair, I really don’t want the hassle. A few weeks ago, around the time I decided to put a mashed avocado all over my head and get the freakiest allergic reaction, I stopped using products and started using ingredients from my kitchen-and ones that I am not allergic too. I am very new to the natural hair treatment world but since doing a little research -plus discovering food I can eat to nurture my hair- I have found that honey and olive oil works absolute bloody wonders for my super dry hair! Honestly! It is amazing, so cheap, so easy anyone can do it! Mix as much honey and olive oil as you think your hair may need. I need loads! make sure your hair is damp and clean and then apply from top to bottom- mainly bottom if you have dry ends like me- and leave for 30 minutes. Tie it in a bun and relax. Then all you do is rinse. I don’t shampoo or condition after because I find my hair agrees with just these two simple ingredients. I am so excited about trying out other natural hair and body treatments. But maybe not avocado ones.
