This week the kids have been off school for half term, I’ve launched my new podcast and it was my birthday yesterday. Suffice to say it’s been a busy week. But no matter how busy things get, if it’s my birthday I want to have a mini celebration with my nearest and dearest. Organizing a party, albeit a small one, would have been a struggle with three kids and very little time, which is why I was so happy to work with Rocking Sugar for my 38th birthday celebrations.
When Noni, stay-at-home mum of two and owner of Rocking Sugar, contacted me about a collaboration it was a week before my birthday which also meant less than seven days away from the podcast launch. Things were hectic and I hadn’t even thought about the logistics of having 25 people over for a birthday party that will also include 8 kids. She saved me. Right then and there I felt liberated. An online shop with next day delivery. But then it occurred to me that Rocking Sugar might just cater for kiddie parties and what if the website isn’t very good and it takes ages to place an order and find your way back?! Oh the horror.
Luckily that wasn’t the case with Rocking Sugar and its rocking website. Seriously, so easy to use and its fast and functional. With online shopping I feel that is half the point, knowing that this is actually hassle-free and not just next-day delivery AND payment on the spot, if you don’t have time for all the credit card details. Rocking Sugar offers all the by the way. I placed an order on Monday afternoon and received it on Tuesday. I was ready for my party!
So what did I chose? My eyes lit up with excitement when I saw the Rainbow range of napkins, paper plates and cups and even a tablecloth. I mean, look! I die for tie dye.
I really fancied these silver candles even though I had no idea up until the day before my party if anyone was bringing a cake or if I should make my own? I know, sad right? But my cakes are really good. I bake a mean carrot cake and cheesecake. And my brownies have been known to seduce. Ha! Which brings me to one of the other small but significant reasons I like Rocking Sugar: the sugarcraft tools and equipment selection is ah-maa-zing! A baker’s heaven. Of course the one thing I bought from that selection, because I am currently on a sugar-free diet, were these rainbow cupcake cases. 3.50 euros for 150 cases. Love.
What I also loved was the packaging selection and, this is something that will interest you if you’re in the baking small business category so you may want to check it out. I am a huge sucker for great packaging. I love using paper bags to transfer baked goodies to friends and often bake for my family and with Christmas coming up I might need a few cupcake boxes and a box of 100 twist ties for 2.00 euros.
Rocking Sugar caters for both adults and kids. So think hen parties, And the kids collection is madness! So much to chose from, it’s insane. There is a truly honestly hand-on-my heart great selection of products, which by the way aren’t your typical big brand China-made products. Rocking Sugar makes a point of stocking known-brands from Greece, the UK and Italy and Poland too.
Think of anything you might need for a kids birthday party and you will find it on Rocking Sugar. I guarantee it. Unless you want a real unicorn or a bouncy castle. I am talking about supplies, the raw basics of any party that includes kids and very little time. Paper straws, candles, good quality table covers, paper bags, piñatas.
There’s a party favour selection too -pencil cases, puzzles and keychains-which I thought was super useful. It definitely saved me some time. There were 8 kids coming with their parents – ok five if you count my three- and I found these little notepads for 1.45 euros. They arrived individually wrapped containing a sharpened pencil -so important- and a whistle. I totally forgot to actually give them to the kids because I’m like that sometimes. But they’re all family so they’ll get them soon.
It had actually never occurred to me that throwing a party could be this easy especially if you’re short on time and money. I can definitely see myself using Rocking Sugar again. Even for school stuff because they have a selection that includes kids’ favourite cartoon characters on lunch boxes, water bottles and backpacks. Told you they have everything.
