We’re at that stage where James is on three meals a day. That means exactly what all mamas with young babies know it means: The pressure is on. Gone are the days when all I needed were my boobs and a nappy or two. Also it’s been over five years since I pureed a meal and while I never thought things could change that much in this department I am actually discovering all sorts of new information and food combinations.

A couple of months ago I was contacted by a reader who wanted to know if I was interested in writing something about bed rest. She would tell her story, a first-hand account of what bed rest means and how to survive it.
Honestly I can’t remember the last time I dyed eggs for Easter. I think at some point it just became an incredibly mundane tradition- dip them in some red dye and that’s it. There was some spicing up later on when the colour green was introduced. Ha!
I promised myself I would get involved with decorating eggs this year with Georgie. But we’re doing it our way! So I gathered some kid-friendly cute and modern egg decorating ideas to try out.
This week it was Georgie’s birthday. He is now 5 years old.
I get a bit emotional at his birthdays, when he blows out the candles and I realise how bloody quickly time goes by. I hugged him tight on the morning of his birthday and whispered the words ‘my baby’ to which he replied: ‘No mama. I am now 5 years old so I am not a baby anymore.’ I made it abundantly clear that no matter how old he is he will always be MY baby. If you follow me on Instagram you can catch me singing happy birthday to Georgie as he was waking up with a smile on his face.
Last week I received a message from a frustrated mother regarding her son’s eating habits. She explained that breakfast seemed to be a particularly difficult meal of the day for her as she was running low on options and ideas. I’ve noticed that breakfast can be challenging for many parents. It really needn’t be as long as there’s some planning ahead involved and you’re able to see beyond the basics like cereals and bread. Go ahead and experiment. It’s something you definitely will not regret.
