My pregnancy food shopping list

When I started researching foods I should be eating during my pregnancy I was quite happy to note that most of it was grub I actually like and eat anyway.

However I knew that during the next few months these items would have to be more prominent in my daily diet. Not only do I want to avoid unnecessary weight gain – an experience I had while I was pregnant with Georgie- most importantly I want to be as healthy as possible and I want my baby to be as healthy as possible.

How to make the perfect fried egg

Eggs are my jam. They get my vote every time. For breakfast, lunch or dinner, they are easy to rustle up and are one of the best budget foods. 10 foods I always have in my kitchen

If I want to eat healthy I must keep healthy foods in the house. And that is exactly what I do. Fruit and vegetables are on rotation depending on what’s in season but these 10 bad boys are always in my pantry or fridge come rain or shine. Some of them make snacking a really good idea.

Sometimes I whip it into a paste along with fresh garlic, coat a bunch of vegetables and stick them in the oven. Grate it, chop it, cut it or slice it, ginger is one of the healthiest foods you can have in your kitchen.

Cyprus, on our island

Bye summer!

For the most part of this month my laptop remained closed. There was a great instinctual need to ‘switch off’ and that is exactly what I did.

This year, August get-aways have made more sense to me than ever before. Our little family happily disrupted everyday habits, sidestepped painful memories and headed to various locations around the island for three whole weeks. Whilst staying at hotels and apartments beachside and visiting remote villages in the mountains:

In the kitchen// Eggs on toast with kale

This simple combination is one of my all-time favourite meals. Why? First of all, it’s protein-based, which is always a good and healthy idea. Throw in the fact that these eggs are freshly picked from my dad’s farm and it’s easy to see why I love it. Reason number two is the quick and easy factor, so important in a busy mother’s life. And last but by no means least, there’s kale, one of the healthiest greens and foods in general!
