The moment I laid eyes on the white and breezy Souxou Mouxou Mantalakia I wanted to tell the world. New life is being pumped back into the old part of Nicosia and this little restaurant is one of many making this possible. We sat down for a nice lunch which included a green salad with grilled cheese, little fried balls of goat’s cheese and feta, mushrooms with a filling and beef meatballs on a stick. We paid 40 euros, which might be a bit pricey for some but we enjoyed a lunch thoroughly. Can’t say the same for Georgie who barely touched my lentil and rice mixture. i have to mention the bag-cum-chair I found at Mothercare, a godsend when there are no highchairs or wooden ones which Georgie doesn’t like. All you do is open the bag- which is basically the booster seat with a soft cushion -and strap it around any chair. They won’t be level with the table but it’s the best solution I could find when he won’t spend another minute in his pram. Oh. And it also comes with a changing mat and a pocket or two.
It’s a public holiday today and one that requires parades and drums and school kids running around town in really short school skirts and funny hairdos. Saying that i actually enjoy feasting my eyes on the many levels of school style that exist today. LV handbags and bright orange hair – I’m one to speak! It shows originality and that these kids aren’t afraid to express their opinion. Who knows? Maybe they’ll make it possible for people with tattoos and piercings to get a decent job in the future. Do I dare dream?
