my daddy’s a race car driver!!!

We were all pretty damn proud of papa today. He drove his super fast car for the first time in a very long time across the Acnha Speedway track. Bravo papa! It takes ALOT of time and effort to do what he has done together with a very impressive team. I admire his dedication.x

fun day at the women’s market in the old town of Nicosia

We had the most fun day ever today. Two of my closest friends joined me and Georgie for a day in the old town of Nicosia. I love those parts of town. My last job was bang in the heart of everything and it was one of the reasons why I loved my day-to-day routine.

Every first Saturday of the month a little market called Gynaikopazaro – women’s market- is held at the end of Ledra Street. It is the same spot where the original Gynaikopazaro was held in the 20s. No men were allowed then and women would sell homemade goods ranging from food to linen. Today more than 30 traders set up tables full of handmade goodies and brilliant secondhand finds that make up a beautiful creative atmosphere. Today was special though as my favorite cupcakes were on sale. Two sisters with busy schedules bake a variety of cupcakes – coffee, chocolate, vanilla, lemon, carrot- decorate them oh so beautifully and then dare you not to try them. Couldn’t resist. Never can.And while hours can be spent scouring through the accessories, books and clothes, a little shop called My Shop is another reason Ledra Street tops my list of places to go. Run by the same person who organizes the market, My Shop is a haven for retro lovers. There’s antique furniture, French Connection clothes, Cowshed products and the coolest retro home decor I ever did see. Actually I don’t want to ruin it with my rambling so have a look at the pics. Phenomenal, right?

our weekend

Georgie stayed at grandma’s on Friday night so hubby and I enjoyed a night out. What was supposed to be a dinner turned out to be drinks and even some dancing!

On Saturday we headed to the American Academy school in Nicosia for International Day. All the students sang and danced to classic cinema tracks. Georgie, as expected, loved every minute of it, insisting on leaving my lap – after he had already left the stroller- and heading for the stage to dance. The evening was beautiful. There were so many different delicacies from more countries than I thought possible. Argentinians? Really? Very impressed! I can’t even remember half the names of the unique sweets and goodies everyone was offering but I enjoyed mucho!!! Thank you American Academy.
