odd ends

odd ends

1. Phone conversation with papa.

2. I, yes I, painted the guest toilet walls black. Blackboard black! Finishing touches will be taking place this week- hopefully.

3. Just so he can see where he’s going, a mini haircut. I made papa swear before they left for the hairdresser’s.

4. Perdika. I snuck up on this little birdie only to notice this little ring around its leg. It’s raised to be shot.

run wild and free

I am so glad I grabbed my camera on our way out to my sister’s for lunch. A beaming sun was all these kiddies needed to run free, make up stories (apparently,a shark was after us) and just be kids for a while. In the meantime, I got to capture all of this. Today was one of those good days. x

We’re on TV!

Earlier last month, I received a phone call from a good friend of ours who owns a post- production company. He said his team was scouting locations for an upcoming TV ad and they would like to see our home as a possible candidate. Despite this new house of ours being nowhere near finished as far as my high interior expectations are concerned, I agreed. A lovely lady showed up the next day to take some pictures of our bedroom, Georgie’s bedroom and the living room, which were spaces they needed for the ad. She also took pictures and videos of Georgie and me! Turns out they needed a couple of people to be in the ad too. More specifically, a mummy and her baby to join two other mothers with their babies, who would also be part of the project. The ad would be for nappies (diapers, for my American friends) and Georgie and I would be IN IT! The actual confirmation didn’t come until two days before they were set to shoot, so I didn’t really have time to fully digest what a truly amazing experience this turned out to be for us. Georgie and me on an average day- –except for the makeup, hair, new clothes and a taped t-shirt on G. I am so glad I didn’t wimp out and say ‘no’ because I absolutely love the end result. The new Nannies ad is playing on Cyprus TV channels as of yesterday, so I can finally put it on the blog along with so many other sweet memories. I hope you like it!

In the kitchen— Soar on Raw!

The first time I heard of Erini was when I was asked to interview her for an article in the newspaper I used to work for. The reason for said interview was Erini’s popular workshops on raw food and how to advocate more raw ingredients and healthy meals into a hectic lifestyle. Although I have to admit I have only mastered one or two of her recipes-that’s only down to lack of motivation- I didn’t hesitate for a minute to grab a copy when I saw she had written a book with 100 recipes. All with no cooking involved. Soar on Raw combines mythology and mother nature in an inspirational and educational way and also boasts the most beautiful, colourful pictures. My favourite part is a shopping list she has included to get you started-because any person who prepares meals on a regular base knows how important it is to keep a well-stocked pantry and fridge. Oh and of course this book has spoken to the mother in me by including kids in the mix with recipes you can prepare for a child’s birthday party. I can’t wait to start feeding my family more raw goodies and getting this damn flu out of my system.
