The first month of 2020 has come and gone and it’s left a whirlwind of emotions behind.

Since bringing Indie home, papa and I have been spoiling her rotten. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that she gets more hugs and kisses from us than Georgie does but you get the idea. This, I reckon, is also the reason she doesn’t always listen to us. Things are much better now but during the first month I couldn’t get her to go into her kennel or come or stay or do anything that she really didn’t want to do.
This morning, my eyes were literally swollen shut. I am in a state of shock and saddened to my very core. Yesterday, at 4:15 in the afternoon, papa and I braced ourselves as we said goodbye to our beautiful darling dog, Lily Rose.
Over the last one month Lily’s health drastically deteriorated. Yesterday we found out this was due to a misdiagnosis of a well-known Mediterranean disease called Leishmania. Symptoms can be hard to detect until they’re not. And you’re suddenly faced with a very sick pet and the sickest of all feelings that something is definitely not OK.
My other babies.
She has no idea how big she is. Or how annoying she is. Lily Rose will jump on you while you’ve got a cup of hot tea in your hand, get her head stuck in between the gate bars and chew through two doormats in ONE WEEK! She’s protective and loyal, kind and playful.
We call him The Brain- as in Pinky and The Brain?- It’s not even funny how much alike they are. Tano has a temper and will lash out if he’s not in the mood, so we manage him with care and lots of sweet talk. The poor bastard was taken from his mother too soon, I think and so he developed a little aggressive streak. He’s always on his toes and ready to announce himself with excessive barking whenever he sees or hears something. Those of you who have heard how Tano screams when he sees a cat, will know what I’m talking about.
The new edition of Odd Ends comes with brief descriptions.
1. His new Vans had arrived the previous day so he was very happy to pose with them on. I think this is actually my new favourite picture of my boy.
2. My sister’s dog followed us on a walk through the beautiful fields next to our house.
3. Georgie took his monstrosity of a jeep out for a ride to grandma’s house.
