Dear Georgie…

Since I became pregnant I’ve been keeping a diary. For Georgie. I don’t know why but a couple of months after I found out I was pregnant and when we knew it was a boy, I suddenly felt the urge to ‘talk’ to him. I felt I had things to say. Even if it is just mentioning a doctor’s appointment or a film I have watched, every few weeks I open this little leather pad and ‘talk’ to my baby. Everytime, I imagine him reading it and asking me to fill him in on the details of events I have written about. It’s funny to think how far away that time is but it wasn’t that long ago that I bought this little leather pad and sat down to write the first time.

flood festival

The annual Flood Festival was celebrated this weekend. I’m not sure exactly why we celebrate it with festivals, truckloads of food and drink …oh and by throwing water at people or chilling on the beach but the whole point is to just get wet…which consequently means that this weekend, Georgie was UNSTOPPABLE!    On Saturday S and G’s godfather joined us for a trip to the beach. Having those extra hands was heaven for me! thanks guys!   The festival is set up along the beachfront selling all sorts of goodies from food to antiques!   Seeing as the flood festival entails a three-day weekend and more getting wet, we spent the afternoon doing exactly that…only this time. it was war!

seek refuge in the mountains

When temperatures begin to soar seek refuge in the mountains. Seriously! It was the kind of weather where you kinda need a cardigan but bearing your shoulders is just as much an option whereas in the city you just wanted to shoot yourself. Kakopetria, the village we chose to spend our Sunday, relaxes me. The absolutely amazing food at the Ais Giorkis tavern is unbeatable and so are the loukoumades (honey balls) served at a cute outdoor cafe with a playground! Needless to say, it took four people to keep up with the little dude after he had three honey balls! The drive to the village is also totally worth it especially if you’re accompanying over ten different colored vintage Minis. A day well-spent. x
