home and design, let's play

say hello to our little friend

Papa brought home a little surprise yesterday. His name is Evo named after papa’s super fast Evolution rally car. Haha, right? Anyway Georgie seemed more interested in grabbing the jar and smashing it against his head so Evo is currently living by the window munching away on a lettuce leaf.

In other news, we paid a visit to a good friend this afternoon who had a freshly baked cake waiting for us. She also has a pretty little garden Georgie just loves to play in. No garden here, you see. This might be the ideal time to mention that we are planning on giving him exactly that. A lovely little home is being built in the village where my parents and sister live. It looks like we might be in by the end of the year which is so exciting I won’t allow myself to jump up and down JUST YET.

let's play

keep calm and carry on

Sunday started out as a lovely sunny day. Georgie was in his blue jean dungarees, mummy was wearing a long black flowy dress while papa was in sneakers and a t-shirt.We had lunch then headed to the park where we were having a super fun time until…Georgie slammed his head into the rocky ground. i can’t tell you what happened in the next few seconds because i honestly can’t remember. All i remember is seeing blood pouring down his face into his eyes and the wet wipe I had pulled out of my bag, before SEEING the blood, painted red! We’re going to the hospital, was apparently the first thing i said before rushing across the park, black flowy dress blazing. i didn’t care who was there, who was looking, where my bag was or my mobile phone. i always wondered about those kind of things when watching a movie. i mean, something happens and the next thing you know, fancy clothes are being torn, cars are being torched and basically everything we seem to bloody depend on is now useless and disposed of.

Motherhood

Is it me?

Whenever I hear other mummies talking about how they take their babies to concerts or restaurants or visiting after 7 in the evening I get bothered. I literally feel a sadness in the pit of my stomach. Of course it’s all down to jealousy because I simply can’t even imagine messing with Georgie’s routine. New Year Eve is coming up and I am already ultra-stressed about how to deal with it. I have turned down many invitations simply because I fear Georgie won’t enjoy himself. OK I’m lying; it’s because i won’t enjoy myself. “What if you let him nap late in the afternoon?” they ask. Well that MIGHT work if he could actually nap late in the afternoon. My obsession with not letting him nap when he should be awake means that he’ll be active and happy throughout the entire afternoon, playing around with his daddy’s belt and the dog’s toys, but come 6:30, he needs his bath and sleep. In his bed with his music and sleeping bag.
