let's play, on our island

two days. two parks.

You have no idea how insanely hot it is right now. The veranda tiles were so scorching hot today I couldn’t even step out without some sort of protection. I worry about my arm, being exposed when I’m driving. I worry about my face turning into a sack of wrinkles. I worry about the wobbly parts on my body. I worry about not eating enough fruit. But you know what? When I’m outdoors with my baby running around, exploring and taking it all in, I don’t worry. It’s like I’m seeing the world as a brand new place. The park? Wow! So many trees, so many birds!!! The beach? wOW! Water!

ducks and cakes

Yesterday my daddy turned 64. My mum said he came downstairs in the morning singing…will you still need me, will you still feed me when I’m 64! I hope to have that kind of attitude when I turn 40 let alone 64! Bravo papa! In other news, the ducks at my parents’ house where in need of some water after the lining in the pond tore, so the whole family decided to help. Georgie as usual insisted on holding the hose and checking the whole situation was under control.     Erm, even the cat seemed interested???? Looks more like he wants that camera OUT OF HIS FACE!  Twas a beautiful evening. Georgie loved being outdoors, as usual and my soon-to-be home is finally taking form. Makes me so excited about moving there…    Plus I get to see this crazy bunch all the time!

Amsterdam

I just realized that this single picture more or less sums up Amsterdam. Beautiful but also mysterious and perhaps naughty yet most definitely positive. I don’t know how i got all that from this single shot but anyway. My point is that this European city grabbed me. Something in the air made you feel positive, put a smile on your face, dared you to rethink your routine- i’m referring to the bicycle situation. I knew people used bicycles more than cars but I have never and probably won’t every again see that many bicycles rounded up in one place. I couldn’t give you a number but you get the idea.     Tulips weren’t in season but we got our fair share of wooden ones. Cheese was definitely on the list of goodies to bring back.     I’d give anything to live on one of these streets, in one of these houses.   My two must-do’s: Visit Christmas Palace! And take a boat ride. If only to see the stunning boat houses and bridges.     We even broadened our knowledge…     Last but by no means least, pancakes.    Hope to be back soon. x

I’m gonna miss this place

Enjoying the cool breeze on our veranda, watching the world go by. Makes me realize I’m gonna miss this place when we move. So MANY MANY wonderful things have happened to me here. Major incidents. But it’s the little everyday happenings and details that have made up my life over the last six years.   These girls take the same route everyday at the same time, chattering away. They make me smile.   My I♥NY coffee mug from my first trip to the most utterly fascinating city i have visited. The cactuses have been there way before that. They were the first greens I brought into the apartment. SIX YEARS ago!   I swear I’m even gonna miss our road.   Thankfuly this part of my years lived in the apartment will be coming with. x

the zoo

Sunday marked Georgie’s first time at the zoo…and therefore our first time at a zoo as parents! It was such a fun day spent with friends and feeding a giraffe. I’ve seen one up close before but I forget how beautiful these animals are. Truly astonishing. I actually think all the adults were giddier than the kids.   The Pafos Zoo used to be just a bird park. Definitely worth the visit but as a zoo it is a must-see. I will admit I am torn at the idea of zoos and keeping animals caged up. They always look miserable. But my feelings don’t run as strong as they do about feckin circuses! Such cruelty! Anyhoo, here, you get the chance to see all sorts of furry, feathered friends. And some not.   If I had to pick a low of the day it would be the heat! Seriously! Despite applying to myself and Georgie a whole tube of sunscreen, I still got red sore shoulders. Thinking of it now though, I must admit I enjoyed the walking and sweating. It meant I was burning off some serious pizza calories.   So before you get to see any big cats, there’s a cute little traditional Cyprus house set up complete with cooking utensils and chickens and rabbits in the front yard!   The highlight of my day was, without a doubt, the moment Georgie reached out and fed the giraffe a leaf. I melted.
