what’s that in Georgie’s hand? It’s a chicken bone! I find they are great for babies to suck on or even use as a spoon!of course you should make sure the bone is big enough and that your child can’t bite the edges off. I also don’t even think i should mention that you never leave your child unattended while eating. I boiled some chicken last night and teamed it with some spaghetti -real comfort food. Georgie had some for lunch today mixed with yoghurt. Later on, he threw a fit when he spotted the fresh strawberries I picked up at the market. i couldn’t cut them up and get them in the net thingy fast enough. Can’t complain though. My baby’s a healthy eater and I am very happy! Poor Tano had to watch from afar because Georgie kept ‘offering’ him some. So cute!

So yesterday i managed to tick off quite a few things off my list. I washed my hair -and used a mask!- painted my nails-and toenails!- spring-cleaned Georgie’s wardrobe and watched My Week with Marilyn. What an actress michelle williams is! Truly impressed! And of course totally mesmerized by Marilyn and her life.
Now that summer is approaching fast, fruits are on the menu for my baby boy. He was only a few months old last year and just about getting started with solids so we didn’t get a chance to experiment a lot. I finally found some organic strawberries to mix with some frozen cranberries -you can’t get them in any other form in Cyprus, unfortunately- some banana and a bit of milk and made ice lollies. I only just made them so I’ll let you know if he likes them tomorrow.on another note, how do you like Georgie’s new Converse All Star trainers. I am obsessed with All Star trainers and knew they would definitely be my baby’s first shoes, even before he was born. These are ultra cool and looked fabulous with his black leggings.
Anyone who lives in Cyprus or celebrates Easter the way we do will understand my need for a non-meat dish after the thousands of kilos of lamb, pork and beef we’ve all consumed over the past few days. for years I didn’t eat red meat. wouldn’t touch the stuff with a barge pole. then all of a sudden- i can’t actually pinpoint the moment- I loved it! Couldn’t get enough and still can’t. however i have limited my intake somewhat mainly due to my obsession with organic meat and the lack of it here in Cyprus. you can get mincemeat and pork chops from very few selected health food stores but even then the price tag is so terrifying you wish you never saw it in the first place. So this dish is a favourite in our house. Green beans, potatoes, onion, fresh tomatoes and a bit of tomato juice all boiling away for about half an hour, produce this tasty and healthy meal. you can add chicken or even beef cubes. This was another healthy meal I rustled up yesterday. Asparagus, peppers, tomatoes with lots of olive oil and some cheese, oven baked! Bread was accompanied by a fish pate. Tuna, parsley, olive oil, pepper, garlic, horseradish, lemon, onion and cream were all put in a blender. Ta da! You can get the recipe off Jamie Oliver’s 30 minute meals.Of course asparagus is just as good tossed with loads of olive oil, pepper and salt and popped in the oven. I added boiled potatoes later on and let it sit in the oven until they were nice and crunchy. And since we’re on the subject of non meat, here’s Georgie munching away on one of the healthiest snacks.Been meaning to mention this amazing homemade crunchy peanut butter that has come in handy when mummy needs energy but hasn’t got the time. Plus it’s so pretty, it puts a spring in my step.Everything minus the crunchy peanut butter are foods Georgie loves and is able to eat without the spoon fed requirement.
Easter Sunday is coming up which means egg painting has commenced. Sadly I haven’t gotten round to doing it this year but my sister made up for it with yellow and red eggs. The red ones were dyed using beetroots while the yellow ones were made with daisies from her garden. So awesome. I wish i could’ve gone round to her mother-in-law’s, who apparently makes flower prints on hers by wrapping the eggs in tights- or pantyhose. Oh and another natural red dye can be achieved with red onion leaves. of course you need a ton but it is natural. We’re planning an Easter egg hunt too so come Sunday i should have some beautiful pics coming your way.
