Alternative Christmas mixed tape

I’ll be hosting Christmas Day this year. My big fat family of over 12 people and of course papa’s will be coming over and the only reason I am not completely freaking out is simply because almost everyone has agreed to cook and/or bake something. Much to my delight this also means that I can spend a bit more time sorting out table arrangements, decorations, kids’ activities and other details. Don’t worry, I’m not fooling myself that this will be easy but at least I am half-prepared because I have an awesome playlist ready and we all know that music makes everything better. So if I end up f***** up the ham and not buying enough napkins, we’ll be happy enough dancing to this alternative Christmas mixed tape.

It is and always has been a huge part of my life, to say the least, so it only seems right to blog about it too.

I think I’m ready

I wish I could say our Christmas week was a magical one full of traditions and outings now that papa is on his feet but alas fate had something a little different planned. Up until Boxing Day, my dad was in hospital with serious flu symptoms and I have pharyngitis.

I thank my lucky stars I was well enough for my first Santa duty- I teared up more than once thinking about my childhood Christmas memories and how happy it makes me to be able to pass these on to Georgie. Christmas morning was just as exciting. Georgie showed a surprising amount of interest in most of what Santa dragged down the chimney but he seemed to be a bit worried about Santa’s disapproval of our cookies! ‘Why didn’t he eat them all, mama?’
