yummy time

I promised myself i wouldn’t give in to all that baby talk and ridiculous words some people come up with when talking to kids – especially here in Cyprus- but when we’re on the subject of food none other than yummy sounds appropriate.

Anyway, Georgie doesn’t like long meals. Like most kids his age he thrives on snacks. I remember losing my patience when he wouldn’t sit down to eat his lunch after three to four hours of having breakfast. Just let him be, my pediatrician said. Offer it to him later and he’ll probably eat it. Oh my how she was right. So basically what we do now is offer him something to eat every two hours. it could be a biscuit or spaghetti bolognese. Whatever it is he’ll usually eat it if he isn’t pressured and i’m not about to lose my mind.

our weekend

Georgie stayed at grandma’s on Friday night so hubby and I enjoyed a night out. What was supposed to be a dinner turned out to be drinks and even some dancing!

On Saturday we headed to the American Academy school in Nicosia for International Day. All the students sang and danced to classic cinema tracks. Georgie, as expected, loved every minute of it, insisting on leaving my lap – after he had already left the stroller- and heading for the stage to dance. The evening was beautiful. There were so many different delicacies from more countries than I thought possible. Argentinians? Really? Very impressed! I can’t even remember half the names of the unique sweets and goodies everyone was offering but I enjoyed mucho!!! Thank you American Academy.

Happy Birthday Georgie!

There is a point in everybody’s life when things change. Life changes. There is a single point when a switch just goes off and you are thrown. This is exactly what I felt like the very next morning Georgie was born. Looking at him I freaked out. Reality hit me hard. I was knackered, mourning the loss of my ab muscles and being helped by a stranger – nurse- into the shower and then into my knickers. But amidst the sore nipples and already sleepless nights I marveled. I marveled at something. Up until that moment I had never experienced such an overwhelming urge of intense feelings for anything. The Alps were impressive and going to New York Fashion Week was beyond real but looking down on this picture of perfection I was gone.

Motherhood

almost one year old and walking!

Georgie has been walking on and off for just over two weeks but over the weekend I noticed that the crawling has almost completely disappeared – aside from the super fast crawling he does when    i pretend I’m running after him. It’s such a bizarre feeling seeing him walking around belly out arms up. It makes me realize how time has passed and my little skinny monkey has grown into a beautiful   healthy boy whose hand i adore holding while he begins to explore.
