Since papa’s surgery, understandably things have been a little different around here. Example: papa no longer needs to say goodbye to us every morning before heading to work, something that has completely thrown Georgie. Over the first three days, he would frequently and randomly ask papa when he would be going to work. It took him a while to wrap his head around the fact that he would have papa all to himself ALL DAY. The little dude is in a very happy place. In fact we all are. At times I’ve felt pressure bearing down on my shoulders and a sudden pang of sadness but hey, at least I have cheese, The Elf, a warm home, beautiful babies babbling then sleeping the afternoon away and alas, snow. With Christmas around the corner, I think everything’s gonna be alright.

One day I took a look around my parents’ house and realised there were certain pieces of furniture that I fancied. Not all are particularly old but sentimental and my kind of style nonetheless. An armchair, a stool and a cabinet have now found a home here, in my new home, and I can’t tell you how happy that makes me because that stool used to belong to my grandmother and that chair came with my parents when they moved here from England.
We’ve been jamming to a winter vibe here at home – despite the weather NOT. Christmas decorations are yet to be put up but the fireplace has been lit multiple evenings, seasonal jingles and oldies have been playing all day and porridge has been on the menu. I would have posted this under In the Kitchen but it’s such a simple heartwarming food, it need not be treated as more than just that. Recently I managed to find those brilliant Ella’s Kitchen smoothies in a pouch, which I used frequently when Georgie was younger and all he could swallow was pureed foods. Such a great alternative when you’re out of fruit.
Last week we celebrated my birthday. Our families came round for souvlakia and cake. Oh and champagne! We put our fireplace to good use for the first time too, welcoming the cold winter nights that have finally decided to make an appearance. By far the highlight of my day was the vintage Kodak Bullseye camera papa gave me. I love that guy!
