Lefkara. That is the name of this breathtaking village just outside of Larnaca. We headed there yesterday, on a beautiful sunny but cool day with my sister and her family. The kids had a fantastic time walking through the pebbled alleyways and eating loukoumades, which again I didn’t get a picture of, because I just about had time to snag two for myself before they disappeared. The older kids, Angelo and Mia were keen on checking out the bright coloured houses and made us laugh when they looked confused as to why the roads were so small. We explained that back then people didn’t have cars, they had donkeys. Angelo: ‘I don’t understand’. This is the second Sunday outing in two months so I think we should aim for more, make it a regular ‘thing’. Georgie is old enough to last through the day with a quick nap in the car so leaving town is less stressful. There’s nothing like enjoying your food with a toddler who isn’t interested in doing the same, right? Thinking about doing more posts like this. Perhaps I’ll call it This is Cyprus.

One week away was more than enough for me to admit that my baby has become a little boy. In exactly one month from now he will be turning two. Last night, papa and I watched a few -ok, alot!- of videos from when Georgie was just a wee baby. Oh how time has passed. I could’ve sworn a year ago was just yesterday because it feels like that. I am not noticing how fast he is growing. It’s slipping through my hands. But you know what? It’s ok. Because my little dude is becoming a person. An opinionated character with never-ending energy. A day spent with him is a day well spent. He screams at the top of his lungs and runs around in circles. Also he loves jumping from one couch to another or chair or table; whichever is furthest. He helps bring the dirty laundry to the washing machine and even grabs a wet wipe when something needs cleaning! He hugs me every so tightly and kisses me gently on the mouth and then says Mama and I die happy. Right there.
I made my way to London again last week to visit my daddy. He is recovering nicely at my uncle’s house in Southeast London. I arrived just after the snow had stopped and all that was left were melting snowmen. Seeing my beautiful friends A and Z who are based in London brought positive energy and a high to my week and made missing my baby bearable so many thanks for that my darlings. Papa and Georgie had a fantastic time while I was away. Many iPhone pictures to follow tomorrow. In a bit of a hurry because wireless not working properly so my laptop’s hanging from a wire while I’m freezing my tooshie off on a cold concrete floor.
Making masks was nowhere near as much fun as hide and seek was today. We’ve only just started playing with Georgie and it’s got all three of us in fits! Georgie hides in front of the bedroom door, papa throws a sheet over him and then boo! Love these guys.
It’s crunch time for me and my style. And when I say style I mean taste. For instance, I love colour. I am drawn to anything that is bold and crazy. But alot of the time I feel this confuses and clutters my thoughts especially when these colours are a permanent fixture and poorly mismatched. When we were designing our home in our heads and then on paper, I got goosebumps thinking about all the different kind of exciting things i could do. Pink rooms and blue bookshelves are the kind of things that have been cluttering my mind though and I had to put a stop to that. That’s why I so boldly changed my blog theme without even looking at a single colour- ok, so I checked out two! Simple and frugal is making a bit more sense to me right now. Applying this to the house has worked well. Things are moving along and we might just be all moved in time for Georgie’s second birthday.
