10 things I learnt at the Birth Forward seminar

On Saturday I dragged my growing belly to the Birth Forward seminar because no matter how much I wanted to put my feet up and take advantage of the fact that Georgie was spending the afternoon with his dad, I really wanted to see what this little community was doing for pregnant ladies in Cyprus.

I, along with many, are disgusted by the fact that we -Cyprus- have the highest rate of Caesarean Sections in Europe. It’s 52%, in case you were wondering, so you could say it was about time someone stood up and questioned this alarming fact.

Pregnancy massage at ISIS Clinic

The lights were turned down low and the room was cosy and warm. Candles were lit and a sweet aroma filled the air. If it weren’t for the effects of this calm environment I would have been jumping for joy. Because I was about to get a pregnancy massage!

I take care of my body as much as I can. Stick to your style and the pieces you like, just buy them one or two sizes bigger and make sure they’re comfortable yet flattering.  And whatever you do don’t worry about the weight gain. Flaunt that bump and be proud of it!

Gender disappointment

During the first stages of my pregnancy, family members -who are always the first to know- couldn’t keep mum about their desire for a girl. As for me? Did I have a preference? I would lie if I said I didn’t. There was a secret preference for a boy. I absolutely love being a mother to a boy and sort of wanted to keep to what I know and am good at.
