Amsterdam

I just realized that this single picture more or less sums up Amsterdam. Beautiful but also mysterious and perhaps naughty yet most definitely positive. I don’t know how i got all that from this single shot but anyway. My point is that this European city grabbed me. Something in the air made you feel positive, put a smile on your face, dared you to rethink your routine- i’m referring to the bicycle situation. I knew people used bicycles more than cars but I have never and probably won’t every again see that many bicycles rounded up in one place. I couldn’t give you a number but you get the idea.     Tulips weren’t in season but we got our fair share of wooden ones. Cheese was definitely on the list of goodies to bring back.     I’d give anything to live on one of these streets, in one of these houses.   My two must-do’s: Visit Christmas Palace! And take a boat ride. If only to see the stunning boat houses and bridges.     We even broadened our knowledge…     Last but by no means least, pancakes.    Hope to be back soon. x

flood festival

The annual Flood Festival was celebrated this weekend. I’m not sure exactly why we celebrate it with festivals, truckloads of food and drink …oh and by throwing water at people or chilling on the beach but the whole point is to just get wet…which consequently means that this weekend, Georgie was UNSTOPPABLE!    On Saturday S and G’s godfather joined us for a trip to the beach. Having those extra hands was heaven for me! thanks guys!   The festival is set up along the beachfront selling all sorts of goodies from food to antiques!   Seeing as the flood festival entails a three-day weekend and more getting wet, we spent the afternoon doing exactly that…only this time. it was war!

shopping discovery

Shopping with Georgie can SOMETIMES be fun. Those times however usually include a space where it’s safe for him to roam about. It’s such a shame there aren’t more stores with beautiful kiddie corners stacked with books and toys and no holes to escape. Last year I discovered Jellybean on Stasicratous Street in Nicosia. An utterly gorgeous space packed with cute clothes, great books and Tigadoo’s wooden toys. Here, Georgie can play and so can I! The bandana he’s wearing? I couldn’t resist! And I couldn’t resist this black tank top either!

market love

This afternoon we showed our support for my gorgeous friend Z, who organized a street market in the old town of Nicosia. Old furniture, albums, books, trinkets and clothes were on parade in a small alleyway where music was blaring and the mojitos were on fire! I could’ve spent at least a couple of hours browsing the stalls but alas motherhood was calling so we said hello to friends we haven’t seen in AGES, took a few pics and headed to the nearest cafe for homemade lemonade and supper for Georgie.Note the Snoopy tie!yes please! to those camel colored flats.I can’t even begin to tell you how sad I am that bag is not in my closet!Really looking forward to more market love. xxx

at home…

I rarely stay home with Georgie. He was days old when I took him out and to the mall for the first time. Granted it isn’t the most creative of places but it was cold and I was in dire need of a shopping trip. Plus I think it’s good for kids to learn to be out and about instead of cooped up indoors in front of the TV-gasp! Even if it’s just for a walk outside, leaving the apartment’s four cold walls makes me feel better and therefore baby feels better too. Yesterday the weather wasn’t too kind though- extremely windy and dusty, the worst when you’re suffering with allergies- so we ended up staying indoors. We listened to some music- we’re currently loving the new Black Keys album- read our new Puppies book and somewhere along the line I found time to tidy my wardrobe and put away my winter coats. Georgie found time to mess around.
