This was the biggest reason we decided to take a few days off and fly to Brussels. The Rock Werchter Festival. Hands down the best musical experience I have had so far. I actually knew I would say this but still, living it, being there, watching and dancing to Jack White playing Seven Nation Army LIVE to over 80,000 people, gave me goosebumps. I hope I always remember this day so vividly as i do now. On Friday afternoon we grabbed our backpacks and headed to the train station. The Festival is held outside Brussels, in Leuven, in a massive park where a total of three stages were built. That’s Beth Ditto in the black and white dress in the centre of the stage. She blew me away. A phenomenal voice and character. But above all, were Pearl Jam. We all know and love their songs but that voice…Eddie Vedder, you make life pretty when you sing. It just makes sense that I actually saw a person worthy of admiration through his words to the crowd, the way he just wanted to hug that crowd and the way he sat down at the end of the show and lit a cigarette. I thought to myself, I like him. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8vNBUg58tI] Do watch this video. You won’t regret it. Even though I wasn’t allowed to take my camera-regulations don’t allow professional equipment on the grounds-, I think the iPhone shots came out OK. To be honest I was relieved I didn’t have to take it. It weighs a ton and I would have been too busy enjoying myself to worry about it. Even Georgie skipped my mind on more occasions than I will let on. More of that and Amsterdam-roadtrip- tomorrow. Right now I am off to stare at my baby while he sleeps and tuck into some pizza. Goodnight. x
style and beauty
Last night, we ordered in but I was in the mood to make dessert so I whipped up some strawberry tarts – technically i didn’t bake anything. The tart cases were ready. Oops. I did make the custard from scratch and the strawberries were organic so all eight tarts were scrumptious.
I saved one for Georgie because he hasn’t tasted the sweetness that is custard yet- I know! Ridiculous, right? Picture taken with brand spanking new iPad! For some bizarre reason, he took the strawberries off before giving it a go. He then of course devoured the berries and waved his hands around for more.
Enjoying the cool breeze on our veranda, watching the world go by. Makes me realize I’m gonna miss this place when we move. So MANY MANY wonderful things have happened to me here. Major incidents. But it’s the little everyday happenings and details that have made up my life over the last six years. These girls take the same route everyday at the same time, chattering away. They make me smile. My I♥NY coffee mug from my first trip to the most utterly fascinating city i have visited. The cactuses have been there way before that. They were the first greens I brought into the apartment. SIX YEARS ago! I swear I’m even gonna miss our road. Thankfuly this part of my years lived in the apartment will be coming with. x
Have a super great fabulous weekend!xxx
The annual Flood Festival was celebrated this weekend. I’m not sure exactly why we celebrate it with festivals, truckloads of food and drink …oh and by throwing water at people or chilling on the beach but the whole point is to just get wet…which consequently means that this weekend, Georgie was UNSTOPPABLE! On Saturday S and G’s godfather joined us for a trip to the beach. Having those extra hands was heaven for me! thanks guys! The festival is set up along the beachfront selling all sorts of goodies from food to antiques! Seeing as the flood festival entails a three-day weekend and more getting wet, we spent the afternoon doing exactly that…only this time. it was war!
