Before we tucked into a healthy lunch including a giant octopus, yummy prawns and various dips and breads, Green Monday and the Carnival was a great excuse to paint our faces and play games. It was the kind of day ideal for flying a kite and finally taking pleasure in all the hard work that has gone into making this place a home. It’s been just over a week since we moved in and although living out of boxes and a fussy toddler who wants to play around an empty swimming pool can make for one big headache, having an awesome family right next door makes it a lot easier.

A couple of pictures here from last week’s successful first-time attempts in the kitchen! Pizza and beans! I’ve always wanted to make my own pizza and I am very proud to say it was almost 100 per cent organic too. Apart from the dough and cheddar cheese, every single ingredient from the broccoli to the tomatoes were pesticide-free and also LOVED by Georgie. The beans weren’t a winner to begin with but mashed into a creamy potato mash was a different story. Also my little dude has newfound love for liver! It is considered a superfood and VERY nutritional, in case you didn’t know, so I was thrilled when Georgie gobbled it down.
Saturday late mornings are usually spent with Georgie’s cousins at TGIF, perhaps the most kid-friendly diner I know. However this Saturday, we went back to basics and snacked on fruit, cheese and bread at the Athalassa Park. I literally threw in a bag whatever I could find in the kitchen that would be picnic-suitable. It was a lovely change and one that we will definitely be doing more of. And thankfully, Georgie rediscovered his love for blueberries.
This has been a very good week regarding eating. There’s fresh summer produce at our local organic market on a regular basis and Georgie has been diving in. Stealing a cucumber or tomato, at said market, is now both acceptable and welcomed, so I’m happy. Here’s what’s been on the little dude’s menu over the past few days. Waffles, bought at Lidl, organic blueberry yoghurt and organic strawberries for breakfast. Organic fish fingers and tartare sauce. He wasn’t too keen on the tartare sauce but he did make a point of using it to cover his entire face, as usual. Cous cous with tomatoes and feta and tons of olive oil and lemon. Tofu hot dogs in a bun and avocado. P.S He ate the hot dogs and gave the bun to the dog. Raisin bread with butter, cheese and cut up cherries.
There’s a reason I sort of ‘believe’ in star signs. Georgie’s a Pisces and guess what? he LOVES water! I don’t know if all kids are as obsessed with water as my little dude is. If so then I have a question, parents? how do you ever get them away from it??? You have no idea how much the poor thing cried when it was time to go. He was inconsolable. When we’re at the beach, things aren’t so bad. But give him a hose, water and trees and he can mess around all day- now if only he had all day. Today he helped his grandfather water the cucumbers, courgettes and tomato patches. He was having so much fun until he got too wet, bedtime was approaching and I had stuff to do. He cried all the way home…all 10 minutes.xxx
