A resolution of sorts

I schedule appointments and chores if they are on the itinerary and then I concentrate on Georgie and activities we could do together. It only takes a few minutes and somehow it makes falling asleep much easier.

And then the New Year flies in and sleep doesn’t come easy. I find myself staring into space, willing my head and heart to come up with a bigger and broader plan. Yes, I’m talking about a resolution of sorts. Last year I promised to change some things I felt were holding me back and I am so glad I did. I NEED the same this year.  There’s so much I want to do, to achieve and to accomplish, my mind spins with excitement one minute but the next I am glued to the telly watching TV shows and chomping on popcorn. I think this slumped upset has to do with the fact that this year signifies a massive inevitable change in my life: Georgie will start pre-school in September. I feel THAT will be the time for resolutions. For now, I’ll stick to some basics, things I have been dreaming of for a while now. Listing them here on the blog, will hopefully make them more real, generate some excitement and bring clarity to my confused mind.

1. Learn a new language: I plan to take some lessons in either Spanish or Italian come September when my schedule will be a bit more relaxed but for now I am happy to report I am dusting off basic French with the help of a brilliant app, Duolingo. It will definitely come in handy when we go to Paris in April. Fingers crossed.

2. Travel more: Papa and I have promised to do our best to travel more. We are looking forward to traveling with Georgie too. I know he will absolutely love it as much as we do.

3. Play that guitar: Papa has been strumming way more than I have, tuning into YouTube for lessons. I need to follow suit.

4. Bake bread: I surpassed my expectations last year when I learnt how to love and appreciate the art of cooking and baking without pressure but this year I am serious about bread and I plan to make it often.

5. Practice humility, determination and patience: no explanation needed.

    I also have a few things I’d like to change/do, but I have the breaks on while waiting for my second child. I feel like this will be a year of pause for me, from the outside, but also a year of planning for what happens once things have settled a little.
