A 24-hour getaway with my girls

Last Saturday, my three best friends and I checked out of our daily routines and into the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Limassol for one night to celebrate my birthday. It was a short but sweet getaway that was jam-packed with so much fun it took me three days to recover.

I covered most of our weekend on Instagram but I wanted to include it here on the blog too. We decided to go the the Crowne Plaza Hotel after Georgie and I spent a Sunday morning there a couple of weeks ago enjoying their impressive brunch. I was blown away by the menu and the fact that they have almond milk to go with my coffee! ha!

We booked massages and mani/pedis a few days ahead. We spent a whole afternoon doing nothing but getting pampered, drinking coffee, eating and resting.

Me before my massage…

and after my hot stone 45-minute rubdown. So good.

We found a little chocolate birthday cake for me in the room when we arrived. Thank you, Crowne Plaza.

We took ages getting ready, all four of us doing our makeup at the same time, exchanging tips and products and clothes, listening to loud music and finally making it out the door for dinner and drinks at 9.30! We were heading for a cup of coffee at 6.30 earlier in the day, a time when none of us ever go out for anything let alone coffee. So far so good.

And the night just got better and better.

We booked a table at Marina Breeze, a fabulous little bar/restaurant/club aka loungebar. We spent three hours dining and wining- downing cocktails and dancing our asses off! seriously there was alot of dancing mainly because the music was so good. The DJ was clearly similar in age to us so we got to listen and dance to lots of oldies 90s and goodies. I got a really good workout that night seeing as I was in heels too!

We went to bed at 3 in the morning and were wide awake at 8. My boobs were bursting with milk – which definitely contained some amount of cosmopolitan cocktails- and I was in dire need of food. And more sleep.

I got some food – the hotel had an amazing breakfast spread- but sadly no more sleep. It took me three days to recover from our 24-hour getaway but it was worth every second. i booked the hotel without hesitation when we decided we could all go on that specific weekend. I didn’t feel bad at all about leaving the boys for one night. This was something that I needed and wanted to do and I am so very happy I did. We all deserve some time off to switch off and recharge. And we should do it unapologetically.

I hope you grab the opportunity if you ever have the chance to get away from everything even it is for a few hours. Those hours of me time can be so healing. And of course it works ten times better when you’re sharing those moments with friends. x

I went on my first solo trip after having Danny to Athens to an Iron Maiden concert. Read about it here.
